We made a special trip to Wuppertal just to ride on the Schwebebahn.
It rained, but it didn't matter; we loved it :-)

Try the village of Zons - historic little town by the Rhine north of
Köln. Take the S-Bahn to Dormagen and bus from there.

We loved the Mosel, much nicer than the Rhine. So maybe the train to Koblenz
and a boat trip on the Mosel.
