HOW IT AFFECTS US
EURO IDENTITY The Constitution describes the EU's flag, its motto "United in
Diversity" and an anthem based on a Beethoven tune. There will also be a
national day - May 9 every year - which "shall be celebrated throughout the
Union".
ASYLUM AND CRIME A "common asylum policy" will be set up across Europe.
Judges at the European Court could decide who are refugees. The EU will be
able to draw up new criminal offences and have its own prosecutor.
WORKERS' RIGHTS All employees will be guaranteed the right to strike, form
trade unions and enjoy "just working conditions". Brussels will also get a
bigger say about schools, hospitals, housing and benefits.
DEFENCE British Armed Forces will be signed up to a European "mutual
defence pact". And there could be a "permanent" EU military force.
FOREIGN POLICY The EU will get its own foreign minister, with a team of
diplomats, for the first time. It will also be able to make treaties with
other countries.

That's on page 3 in the Sun. Rupert Murdoch is writing the draft

That's been the case for donkeys years. When I worked in Brussels we
always got May 9th off, the mingy British government think we get enough
holidays though. And the Ode to Joy has always been the European
Anthem.
Glad to see the Star is slowly catching up!

If it's been the case that it shall be celebrated, why hasn't it in
the UK?
