Default Is Czech a safe place to do free & easy?

Hi All,

Am thinking of doing solo free & easy in Europe. One of the
destination is Prague. Pls advise if its safe to do so. Can I get by
with only English in Prague?

As I want flexibility, I may not want to book hotel in advance. Pls
advise if its difficult to find hotels/hostels in Jun in Europe.

Thanks in advance.

There are hardly any tourists in Prague, especially if you go in
June. If you aren't fluent in Czech, you will be stuck in an
industrial suburb for your whole trip. You won't be able to order in
a restaurant so you'll have to go to McDonald's, and you won't be able
to find any of the sights since they all have Czech writing. It's one
of the most expensive cities in the world too - a beer costs $18 US.
If you're lost, ask a gypsy for directions, and then it's customary to
open your wallet and let the gypsy pick one of the coins.

Sounds quite nasty. Think I'll spend my holidays in East Timor instead
at least they speak some English.

I guess they are worse at English than the Czechs. However, you can trim
your Portuguese and Bahasa Indonesia while in East Timor. Surfing is better
in that neighbourhood too.

Isn't that where Budvar comes from, the original Budweiser, comes
from? As I recall, it was a good beer, much better than its american
counterpart. And they've got various pilsners as well....

If you really want to avoid tourists, it's best to go in July or
August.
