Hi group -
My wife and I each have UK passports.
Both our young children have only their Canadian passports.
Are we still able to go through the 'UK only' customs queue at Heathrow
?
Or - will we have to queue with the 'Non-UK only' customs line up
because our children only hold Canadian passports ?
Thanks.

Customs has to do with duties on imported goods, not passports. And
customs generally has no queue. After arriving from North America, you
have to pass immigration (show your passports, etc.), which is divided
up by nationality. Then you collect your baggage and pass through
customs, where all nationalities pass through together and they stop
you to have a look in your bags if you look suspicious, or if they
feel like it, or if your number comes up randomly.
Actually, you should direct your original question to a British
consulate. I would assume that the parents should go to queue
appropriate for them, and that the children obviously have to stay
with their parents. However, if you're in the wrong queue, they will
just cope with it or send you to another. Having the different queues
is mostly for controlling the traffic, not because the officer in the
EU booth doesn't know how to deal with a foreign passport.

"Customs Control
At airports there are normally three exits
through customs:
A green channel if you are travelling from
outside the European Union and have nothing
to declare;
A red channel if you have goods to declare;
A blue channel if you are travelling from an
airport within the European Economic Area,
where luggage has already been cleared
through customs control.
The notices in the customs area will tell you if
you need to declare anything you have brought
into the country. You can also check with one
of the customs officers before passing through
Arriving in the UK customs control.
Even if you pass through the green channel, the
customs officer may ask you to open your luggage
for checking."
