we had a job buying a ticket, the country local couldn't sell us
a through one and nobody came round as far as Reading on the
Paddington line, we changed there to a Waterloo train, there
wasnt any obvious way there to get to the ticket office side of
the barrier without showing a nonexistent ticket so we thought,
sod that and got on the Waterloo train expecting to pay
Waterloo-Reading but there was nobody at Waterloo! Made up for
the times they got stroppy on Thames day walks about us going
Waterloo-Reading onto "Great Western" tracks with a "Southern"
ticket.

places.

We did a train journey from Upper Heyford N of Oxford via Oxford and
Reading to Newbury, changing twice nobody came round on any of the
trains. In Upper Heyford there is no way to buy a ticket. The man
sitting next to us said he had travelled free for 3 months. At Oxford
we bought a ticket.

I heard similar stories of free rail transport from people in Milan
who travelled into Milan to work from villages in the Alps everyday.

Well, sure, but I don't know anyone in my business who stops when
they're 65- assuming they're still alive!

The line I used the most was Balham to Victoria. Absolutely fine. This

If you'd seen the Urubamba at Aguascalientes, you wouldn't ask.
