Yes you are right , but it is still a relative pain in the bum to get to
Leicester from there despite the proximity. Flight from Paris about an hour
and a half ?
Train from Birm Int to leicester - possibly longer, certainly not quick.
Actually I now revise my earlier advice. London Luton probably has simplest
connections to Leicester. Mainline link.
Even easier than East Mids.

I think the best idea is eurostar, in the week, to London then National
coach to Leicester. Coach lines have been forbidden in france ( except
within departements) to protect the SNCF.

This statement is only valid for national coach lines since Eurolines
offers connections from France to many international destinations
including London.

Great Advice from everybody. From your suggestions and other research
--
I figured out that if I fly by easyjet in the evening on 24th Dec from
Paris to Luton I might be able save a lot of time.I will be reaching
Paris at 7AM on 24th Dec and the last flight on easy jet going to
Luton is at 9 PM--so I can spend one day doing some sight seeing ( I
plan to visit Eiffel Tower)in Paris. Is Eiffel Tower open for
Tourist on 24th Dec?
I plan to come back to Paris from Leicester on 29th Dec by
Eurostar--but the issue is one way leisure fare from London to Paris
is not as proportionatly cheap as Roundtrip fare. Of course can come
back on Easy jet--but I would than miss the opportunity of travelling
in Eurostar and thus will not be able to see the scenic view of France
and England. Hence I would like to know if there is a way of getting
some kind of disounted fare for Eurostar ( for London to Paris one way
trip) if I book with an travel agent in England through my relatives
(Eurostar web advertised fare, as mentioned ,was almost US $400 for
one way for two adults and three kids, where as the round trip was
about $480/-)
I will be leaving for USA on 31st.

Do double-check that you can still get on to Leicester by train or bus
after arriving at Luton, and have a 'plan B' if your filght is
delayed! Everything closes on Christmas Day in Britain and most
things start shutting down quite early on the 24th.

There's no reason why your family shouldn't try to by your Eurostar
tickets in the UK either from an agent, or through Eurostar's UK-based
call centre or website. However US$400 one way doesn't sound
particularly high

It is often cheaper on Eurostar to buy a discounted return ticket and
not use the return half. The cheap returns require a Saturday night
away, so take account of this when trying for fares.
