Default Chinese travelers the most extravagant shoppers

Shopping until they are dropping.

"With an average spend of US$987 each time they take a trip out of China,
the Chinese travellers have become the biggest spenders of all on shopping
during outbound trips, according to a recent study conducted by ACNielsen
and Tax Free World Association (TFWA). "

³However, travellers to European destinations tend to spend even more, with
an average spending of US$1,781.²

Only the richest 1-2% of Chinese can travel abroad at all, and only the
very rich can afford to go to (and get visas to) Europe.

Contrast that to American and European travellers, most of whom are
middle-class.

The Chinese love to gamble and I want to invest in the new casinos they
are building in Macau. They will be crowded cash machines.

2% of over billion is what counts.

True, they if they are poor they don't spend.

Or as Sophie Tucker sqid 'I have been rich and I have been poor, rich is
better".

Remember walking around one of thos Loire Valley
chateux in the early 1980s, the Japanese were top
dogs then, with their smart outfits and cameras,
there was a Cinese group, all dressed alike in those
Mao Tse Tung type suits, rather like what the Soviets
used to sport in those 'cold war' days.

That still represents millions of people.

The Americans I see in Europe are somewhat better off than the middle
class. The only time I've seen the true middle class or below was some
years ago during the dot-com boom days when much of the remaining middle
class in the U.S. could afford trips abroad (and they were sometimes
painfully obvious).

I remember specifically asking you about inexpensive accommodations in Caen
(a question from a traveler). You never deigned to reply. No helpful
suggestions as to where to look if you did not know yourself. Just the same
insults. Thus it is a bit hypocritical of you to criticize. I stand by
what I said about you.

Firstly, the ones that can travel are already quite well off compared to the rest of the nation. Secondly, the Chinese like to appear wealthly even if they're poor. Either that or everyone else is just tight-fisted with their spending money!
