Culd someone advise the cheapest way to get to this airport from downtown London?

Cheapest way is the bus. Check http://www.nationalexpress.co.uk. (You
want Stansted Airport -> London Victoria Coach Station).

Cheapest practical way is to use the bus. National Express run frequent
buses between Stansted and Victoria. One-way fare is around £11. There is a
cheaper service by www.terravision.it at £8.50 one-way and £13.50 return,
but their service is less frequent and doesn't run during the night. Fastest
by Stansted Express train (45 min), and costs £13 single.
