Has anyone used this company? It does seem very good value compared to
regular roaming costs.

I have a riiing card and it worked fairly well on a recent trip. I couldn't
get SMS in Jamaica or Cuba but it seemed ok otherwise.

Yes. I have one but have not traveled with it yet. The trick seems to be to
find a LD carrier with decent rates to mobiles in Liechtenstein. These rates
vary wildly, from about 10.5c to $1.75.

I'm less concerned about that, as it would be businesses calling me
mostly. The UK mobile company I use (Orange) charges 20p to call a
mobile in Liechtenstein, which isn't too bad.

Well, I want to try it out, but I can't figure out how to by a SIM at
the riiing site. Do you have to buy the SIM from the United Mobile site
instead?

I found a 'calling card' with 2.4c/min to a Liech. mobile #, but with 3
min rounding and $1.60/month maintenance.
The SMS fee is higher than most and its coverage is not as good as
others and there is NO data transfer or cell based web browser.
As I'll be paying for Wi-Fi anyway, "Skype" still has the best rates
for outgoing calls all things considered...and free to other "Skype"
users.

That's good. You could join in the discussion on www.prepaidgsm.net/forum .
There are some curious "features" with the Riiing card, most of which are
not documented. For instance, if someone calls you and you don't answer, it
rolls-over to voicemail but, unlike other GSM SIMs, there is no charge for
this above the cost of the call to Liechtenstein. Now, when the phone is
off, you hear bilingual announcements in German and English that the phone
is out of service. This announcement repeats 3 times and then the call rolls
to voicemail. No one has ever heard of a system like this before. You can
retrieve your messages or set up your VM by calling your number, letting it
roll to VM, pressing "#" and then entering the last-4 of the PUK as your VM
PIN to change the settings. Their system of placing calls, uses a
sophisticated ring-back system, but many users are working out ways of using
callback services to save even more. With a Riiing SIM and the right LD
carrier or callback service you can pretty much just laugh at what others
pay/charge for roaming. I don't know how they can afford to run this system,
"but ITMT, ain't we got fun?"
