I am a french speaking Californian

I am planning to visit Helsinki between the 22 and 32 of october

I like to meet with local peole everywher I had a chance to travel

Maybe we could meet and chat in Helsinki ?

Je ne parle pas Finnois et ne connais pas Helsinki..

Partout ou j'ai eu l'occasion de voyager, j'aime rencontrer des gens locaux.

Peut-être pourrais-t-on se rencontrer et discuter?

There are clubs all over downtown. Just drop by a few.

Helsinki is a very social city, particularly in the city center with
many clubs and hangouts. Note that most socializing involves
drinking. I've never seen a general population drink as much and
often as the Fins. As a Californian, (who does not speak French) but
transplanted to Saint Petersburg Russia, that is a pretty telling
statement.
Have fun, the city is very clean, well maintained and a popular
shopping destination. English is spoken by a large portion of the
population, possibly the majority. It is fairly expensive however
where even just using a toilet costs 1 or 2 Euros
I visit there once every few months due to my living so close in
Russia. A bus ride to Helsinki from Saint Petersburg costs as low as
10Euros.
Have a nice visit.

Watch out for the beer; it comes in three different strengths.

"By everybody" is probably a better way to describe it.

The toilets in Stockmann are free. This is a very good thing to
know.

We spent ten weeks there this past summer, having obtained a nice
flat through a relative; we usually spend only a week or so in
Helsinki.

Visit almost any American city.

The elevators in Metro stations also appear to be popular
pissoirs as well.

Finnish idiots ease their bladder in middle of the streets in daylight. I
must say I have not seen this anywhere else. Fortunately it is not so common
in Helsinki as it was a few years back.

Alcohol content can be anything between 0.00XXXXX - 11% or so in Finland.
Beers are categorized by this factor to set different "groups" or "classes"
for taxation and availability. Nordic countries have traditionally been
pretty restrictive as far as alcohol concumption is concerned. Beer
classified as I (pilsu) and III (keskari) can be bought virtually everywhere
and the content is something like 4,7% at most. Stronger beers can be bought
at dedicated off licence stores and reataurants.
