British Airways Fined Nearly $550M for Price Fixing

Good move. Now BA is going to have to raise ticket prices to make up
the shortfall.

And is any of the fine money going to go to the travelers who were
ripped off by price fixing? Of course not--that goes to the
government.

What shortfall? They claim they left around £300 million aside for this.

Unless they're printing their own money on the side, that's £300
million that would have been put to other uses, so yes, it's a
shortfall.

As the article said, this has already been provisioned for and priced
in

It's already been provisioned for and priced in, so where is the
shortfall?

And where did that money (which would still leave a shortfall) come
from? Thin air? Or passengers???

from passengers???

From revenue a long time ago. That's what provisioning is. So
where's the shortfall?

Come off it. Passengers are paying the fine. So BA isn't really hurt,
passengers are.

Jesus. The whole point is that BA passengers are paying the fine,
troll. Passenger's money, in the past or in the future, is going to be
used.

Got that???

Your view is completely bizarre. EVERY company's customers pay their
costs or they can't stay in business. No difference here except you
keep trying to say this is now going to happen when it already long
since has. That was the provisioning. And if they tried to raise
prices when the market won't support it because other airlines won't
go along, they will get nowhere

Yes, to pay shareholders, or board bonuses.

Are you really so dense as not to see that I'm saying the fine is
simply going to be applied to BA's passengers???

Don't talk crap. This won't make any difference to the prices
passengers pay. BA still have to compete, if they raise prices
passengers will just go elsewhere. If they could get away with raising
prices without losing customers, they'd do it anyway to increase
profits.

The fine will affect shareholders and board bonuses. Not passengers.
