herbivores, fast food, annoying ring tones, egos, sarin, mustard gas,
cocaine, heroine, sudan 1, dioxin, pcb, lead, mercury, misinformation,

Really? I thought you needed to be in close contact to catch TB and SARS.

Wow. All from someone who was in hotel room a few hours before me.

I'll have to remember next time I book a hotel room to ensure I book into a room
which has never had people [spit] in it before.

I'll have the heroine, thanks.

MINUS 10 points.

I bet his daughter behaves like a hellion in any public place... Parents of nice children
don't like hellions, either.

He read what you wrote to mean that it was you running
around/crying/screaming/fighting/being rude/making demands.

Nice/dim children sit still like a dog, bright children are active.

Bollocks. Bright children can be well-mannered. A lot depends on how
their parents treat them.

A lot depends on what you mean by "well mannered". In the UK it means
sitting silently as though you swallowed your umbrella. In Greece "well
mannered" children may run around and make noise. So may the adults,
for that matter.

Children may have something to contribute. In the UK it's preferred
that they don't do so since they can't contribute in precisely the way
demanded by their elders. In southern Europe it's preferred that they
do so even if they don't adhere to social niceties.

Anyone for any more stereotypes? :-)

In general passive children are not bright. Children aren't dogs or
pets.

Not only in southern Europe, Dutch children behave very much like
Italian children.

I notice that people without children or who have grown up children,
expect children to be seen and not heard.

off springs of garlic smelling cheese eating surrender unshaven armpit
monkeys?

Oh, and you forgot to mention...DOGS! It seems dogs are an entirely human
creation.

The current theory is that all dogs were descended from wolves tamed by humans.
Most of the breeds we have today are the result of artifical selection by
humans, rather than natural selection.

So yes, you are right. Humans do have a lot to answer for.

I'm the exception maybe. I rather like the sound and sight of children
running around and generally frolicking. I'm certainly like that with my
nieces (one of which is my godchild), though I should point out their
parents don't mind either.

Passive and well-mannered are not the same thing.

I agree that the idea of well-mannered varies from one society to
another.

I don't accept the implication that a quiet child is a repressed one.
