First try this:
http://www.tourisme-aquitaine.fr/en/
For the connoisseur of sea food one can visit oyster farms and enjoy
fresh sea food. you could head up north to Marennes and make a round
trip back to bordeaux going to Brantome for exemple. I always advise to
eat at Relais&Chateaux Relais Gourmands www.relaisgourmands.com . Nice
for your palate but you need a good credit card.

It's a pretty shopping and eating town and a good centre for exploring
the bastides and vineyards. I would actually continue to Sarlat (full
name Sarlat-le-Caneda) which although it is 3 hours from Bordeaux on
the train you will see the best bits of the Dordogne valley on the way
and end up in the ultimate picture-postcard medieval French town.

A scenic train trip sound like a good idea for what will probably be a
cold day. Noted, thanks.

Warning! If this is still on your radar (and you're still reading this)
I heard through the grapevine that Le Buisson to Sarlat is currently
closed, with a bus replacement. Not such fun after all.
Cheers,
Al.

I got lucky. Great train trip, great destination -- and it was a
bloody cold day. We woz fruz, but it was worth it. Herself accepts
that not all the time I spend online is wasted.
Bordeaux was nice, too. Great eating and, of course, good drinking.
