Default Best time to visit Tuscany

My wife and I are trying to decide whether to visit Tuscany in May, late
September, or October. I read that it is rainier in the fall but I can't
find any Italian weather websites that give me the impression that it is a
LOT rainier in the fall than the spring. Can I have your opinion?

TIA.

That's a hard one to answer. We spent 3 weeks in Italy, (Venice, Gubio,
Pisa) last Sept - Oct and we had great weather. It rained hard before we got
there and again after we left. We lucked out with just a couple of wet days.
Prepare for a bit of rain and hope for the best. Tuscany is a mountainous
area and we were often in low clouds.

I have some pictures you can look at, nothing special.

Dick,

Anytime form April till October is a good time for Tuscany. There is not a
lot of rainfall anyway and Tuscany is a rather large en various region. In
top summer it can be really hot in central Tuscany.

We spent the last two weeks of October in Tuscany a few years ago and
had perfectly lovely weather. I think it rained one day. YMMV.

We were in Tuscany in July and August and the weather was great. In September we met a young Aussie in Berlin who was on his way south. We kept in touch via email. He got seriously wet in Florence in September.

Rainwise, September is probably the best of these three months. The
further into October you get, the more likely you are to find drizzle,
fog and the like. Keep in mind that these months are all pretty much
high tourist season. I think maybe I would prefer May, myself.

Your pictures are great! Great colour, balance and composition.

I like your slide generator too. Do you mind telling me the name of the
photo album generator you use?

They brought some nice memories! Thanks.

Louis

Young Aussies have something of a reputation for getting seriously wet. Was
it Peroni?

Thanks Louis

The slide generator is a feature from Photoshop7. I used it because it was
quick and easy. I have since found a great free one.

Give it a try. Once you know how to use it, it's quick and easy and does a
great job.
