My father and I will be in Barcelona for 3 nights early September and want
to stay somewhere charming, we've been recommended the Laietana Palace but
the tripadvisor website gave it a pretty bad rap. It's a trip of a lifetime
so any quaint, charming, even historic (we live in Australia nothing much
historic here) etc is what we're after. Any recommendations appreciated.

We stayed at the Hotel Colon, right on Cathedral Square. It's in one of the
oldest sections of Barcelona, convenient to many shops and restaurants. Be
sure to request a room with a view of the square. While you're in
Barcelona, visit the Cal Pep tapas bar. Believe me, you won't regret it --
the best food in Barcelona, if not the entire universe.
