barcelona & beach

In May we will combine a few days barcelona with a few days on a nearby
beach.
Which town/village should be our option if we want to avoid "benidorm-packed
beaches"?
Sitges?
Also any suggestion for a 3 (or more) star hotel for about 100 Euro's per
nite?
Thanks for your replies

None of the beaches are packed in May. I was there two years ago and most
were pretty deserted. When I returned in August they were packed.
Sitges beaches are nothing special, the usual coarse sand. Water will be too
cold for a swim for most people. You'll see some people sunbathing fully
clothed. But the town has a nice relaxed feel and nightlife is
sophisticated. It won't be terribly busy though.

Never stayed in Sitges, but there are some pleasant small hotels just set
back from the beach. Some specialise in gay clientele. Except at weekends,
you should find a room easily enough in May.
