barcelona -> South of France
Can someone recommend me the cities worth visiting in South of France? I am
coming from Barcelona and it seems that I have to go through Avignon or Lyon
(by train) if I'm heading to Nice, Cannes, and Monte Carlo.
Would you recommend an overnight stay in Avignon?

bonjour
between Barcelona and the riviera, the train goes through Montpellier,
Nimes, avignon, Marseille, toulon and finally cannes and nice
avignon is indeed a nice city and you might want to spend some time there
but so is montpellier !

between Barcelona and the riviera, the train goes through Montpellier,
Nimes, avignon, Marseille, toulon and finally cannes and nice
avignon is indeed a nice city and you might want to spend some time there
but so is montpellier !

Apart from Avignon, my favourites in the south of France are CANNES, MONPELLIERS and
SETE. A little further north, Valence and Lyon are also worth a visit. Since your are going by
train, try to pass /on the way to or from France) across the Pyrenees (via Puigcerda and
Perpignan), a little slower, but a very scenic itinerary.
