Default Avignon to Nice

What would you say are favored places to visit and/or spend one or two
nights between Avignon and Nice? We'll have three nights total between
the two cities.

Thanks.

Without a coubt you need to stay at Aix en Provence and side trip to the
luberon, and Cassis going through, if you insist, Marseilles (Notre Dame de
la Garde if you wish to sightsee)

Marseille, the Vieux Port, sightseeing cruise to the Chateau d'If;
Roman history in Aix - Arles - Nimes; ancient university, salt marshes,
Crusader ports around Montpelier; Cassis (my former home) is generally
crowded and far from its restful past.

If you do not bother to take some risks, you can wander a little out of
the main roads. For example in the Sainte-Baume mountain, in the Verdon
canyon or near the Thoronet abbey.
For Ste Baume, get out of the A8 at Saint-Maximin, you will find many
hotels in small towns or villages like Nans les Pins, Rougiers, Plan
d'Aups, Mazaugues.

To reach the Abbaye du Thoronet district, exit A8 at Le Luc, you can
possibly find an hotel in Carces (2 small hotels), Lorgues, Cabasse,
Flassans.
