Asking Info about Brussels Youth Hostels
Hi,
My wife and I are Canadians and we are planning a trip to Belgium in July.
Our first city is Brussels. As our
budget is tight, we are thinking of staying at one of the two Youth Hostel
(Jacques Brel or Generation Europe).
We would like to know if those places are ok, or if you recommend other
hotels within this category (55 euros max). We have never stayed in Youth
Hostels. Can we safely leave our luggages in our room? Is it very noisy at
night? Are any of these 2 places well located (short walking distance or
metro entrance closeby from interesting attractions)?
We are two peoples and we usually stay in cheap but decent and clean places.
Thank you very much for your advices.
Frederic

Re: Asking Info about Brussels Youth Hostels
DO NOT stay in the Jacques Brel hostel. It's a dump, and it's in a
sketchy area. There were 20 people in our room, so it was impossible
to sleep with people constantly coming and going.
The Van Gogh Hostel is much better (better location and much nicer
hostel, only four people in our room).
For 55 euros, you could probably find an inexpensive hotel room, unless
you really want to stay in a hostel.
It's okay to leave a bag with clothing in your room, but you should
never leave any valuables in the room - most hostels will have lockers.
