The Rough Guide to Germany does not have a map of Ansbach
in it (maybe the current edition does, but I have the previous one).
I need to know how to get from the Hauptbahnhof to the Residence.
Does anyone know of an online map of the city center of Ansbach?
Mapquest did not have the detail I need and the website for Ansbach
http://www.ansbach.de/ is mostly in German.

Have you tried using http://www.de.map24.com/ to provide the route?

Basically the Bischof-Meisner-Str. runs streight from the Hauptbahnhof to
the Residence. Distance approx. 500 m.

My wife and I visited Ansbach briefly this summer as part of a day trip.
Now, where's that map... ah, here it is. Go out the front of the
Hauptbahnhof and turn right onto the street that passes in front of it
(the Bahnhofstrasse, what else?). Turn left at the very first
intersection, onto Bischof-Meiser-Strasse. After a couple of blocks,
you'll reach a plaza that has a bus terminal in it, and the Residenz on
the other side.

Excellent, it is only a few block walk. Thanks for the directions.

Right, according to the map scale it looks like about 600-700 meters,
which is less than a half mile. I'm sure there must be a map posted
somewhere at the train station so you can get a last-minute orientation.

I looked and looked at that website for a map. I guess I did not
look long enough. Thanks for the URL.

Sort of on topic, but this reminded me of the German brandy 'Asbach'.
From my rudimentary Dutch that means 'ashtray'?
Not a good brand name for a brandy?
Where am I going wrong?

You might ask for a connection from your point of departure to *POI*
"Ansbach, Residenz" in
<http://reiseauskunft.bahn.de/bin/query.exe/en?ld=62&seqnr=1&ident=2k.013713182.1096909571&new request=yes&>

German != Dutch. Ashtray is "Aschenbecher" (masc.) in German.
And the Dutch word for ashtray is "asbak."
