Default which airport is closest from GLOUCESTER LONDON hotel

Hi,
wanted to fly from london to edinburgh and do a 3 day/2 nights tour of "Highlands and Isle of Skye"..the tour starts at 8:15am in the morning and ends at 8:45 pm in the night..so that means i would have to stay overnight in edinburgh 2 days..one before the tour starts and one on the day it ends....is there anyway to travel to edinburgh on the day of the tour and still reach in time to start the tour off at 8:10 except coming a day early ?

Also i would be staying at GLOUCESTER LONDON hotel...which airport is the nearest from there Gatwick,Luton or Stanstead..

cheers

You could take the Caledonian Sleeper train, which arrives in Edinburgh
shortly after 7 in the morning, and leaves for London shortly before
midnight. The cheapest return is GBP40, in the seated sleeper carriage, or
you could pay a bit more for a cabin.

Possibly, depending on how early you want to get up in the morning.
Realistically? Don't be silly.

Where is the hotel in London?

Seems unlikely. Alow an hour from your hotel to the airport, check in about
two hours early, then allow an hour and a half for the nonstop flight and some
time to get to where the tour starts . . .

A night train might do. You can leave London Euston at 21:05 and arrive
Edinburgh at 06:25 via the slow train that runs weekdays.

Assuming you mean the Millennium Goucester on Harrington Gardens, it is
physically closest to Gatwick and probably closer in time also. The distances
as the crow flies (not much use when you are not a crow) are 38, 45, and 54
kilometers respectively. Heathrow is much closer, at 19 km. and may be faster,
as you are fairly close to the A2 Airbus route to Heathrow from Central London
(it goes along Bayswater Road).

I do not find any flights from Gatwick that would get you to Edingburgh in
time.

Larry in Berkeley, California (seaotter 6 at a o l dot c o m)(no spaces in
address).

Much faster. Walk to gloucester rd tube, and get on the piccadilly line
to the airport.

But as for doing it in the AM. You need to be somewhere by 8.10. Allow
an hour from the airport getting in a taxi. Allow 30 minutes to
disembark. And the flight is about 1.20 I think. So that means
catching a plane before 6am and most (all?) london airports don't fly
before 6. And checking in at 5am so leaving your hotel 4.30 if you use
a taxi. And of course, any sort of problem that delays your flight
would mean you'd miss your trip. Not to mention spending more on cabs
than on the flight.

Hi,
Heathrow is the best option from that part of town, you can get the tube
there, with one change.

Anyway, getting to Edinburgh before 8.10 in the morning is not going to be
fun, you will end up extremely tired and you won't enjoy your excursion at
all because you will be nodding off the whole time. I'm sure you'll agree
such a trip deserves your full attention :-).

Looks like going the night before is your best option, at least then you'll
have a good nights sleep before you set off. Hotels in Edinburgh aren't
cheap tho, but you can try http://www.ibishotel.com/ibis/index.html

That would be Heathrow then, using the Piccadilly line.
