Default Accomodation near Montpellier

Anyone got any ideas on nice places to stay in the general region of
Montpellier in June?

Somewhere out of town, preferably but not exclusively a hotel, maybe near a beach
would be nice.

I intend to rent a car, so distance is not too much of a problem.

Hi

I agree with Grande Motte.

Other possibilities are Aigues Mortes, Sete.

I live in this area. Lots of info on my homepage at -

Email me if you need more.

I wouldn't rule out staying right in Montpellier itself, a really nice town. We
stayed at the Holiday Inn, which was wonderful. It even had the original exposed
elevator intact (unused now) that went up the center of the main staircase.

Aigues Mortes is a bit far from anything else, though the town itself is interesting
and well worth a visit.

Hi

Yes it looks that way.

But it is close to the best beach in the area, has plenty of accomodation, and fast roads to J27 of the A9 at Lunel, J26 at Vauvert, and via the coast and Carnon to J28 Odysseum and Montpellier.

Reckon on 15 - 20 mins to Montpellier.

Trust me !

Thanks for the suggestions. I will check them out.

Do anyone of you know of any charming, old chateau-type hotels in that area?

Some years ago, I stayed at Hotel Noailles, a modest but very comfortable hotel in a
17th century building in the heart of old Montpellier. If you chose this though, you
should check with them where you can put your car.

A special delight, then, was a free midsummer all-day and night music festival all
over town - June 21st. Listened to a chamber orchestra, strolled down to a group of
folk-singers, up an alley to a dense crowd around heavy-metallers &c. That was at
night. In the day, old courtyards were occupied by costumed choirs of schoolchildren.
Do they still have this celebration.

I also remember cafes on both sides of the main square. In the morning, one side of
the square was in shade and everyone was sitting outside the cafes on that side. In
the afternoon the shade had moved and so did the crowd.
