Default [Repost] Italy: Self-Storage Luggage Lockers; Open or Closed?

I know these (aka: coin, automatic, self-storage) lockers were closed
post Sept 11, '01. I saw them taped-off and signposted last March and I
recall reading a post ~Sept that they were still closed in Pisa.
=A0=A0Does anyone have any recent (within 6 months) info. I know that
the manned left luggage areas are open in the major stations, I'm just
wondering about the smaller stations that only have these lockers.
Regards, Walter

I didn't respond the first time, because I was a bit puzzled by the
question. Maybe I just haven't noticed, but I haven't seen lockers in
small stations. I have, however, seen left luggage rooms in small
stations. They may not always be manned, but if you ask, someone can
open them for you. Even in stations that don't have specific rooms, I
have found that by asking the stationmaster, I can find some place to
leave luggage.

However, since I usually travel around with minimal luggage, I don't
have a vast experience.

Thanks Barbara, I was mainly concerned about Pisa and just assumed this
would be the case in most smaller stations.
I know Pisa has only only lockers which were closed post 9-11. I have
read a couple posts on Fodors and they were told at the station that the
only luggage storage available was at the Pisa airport. One poster
responded to me and said she even tried a close-by hotel with no luck.
Last March I noticed the lockers closed at Termini, Naples Centrale and
the security checks at the left luggage areas. Also the FCO left luggage
was closed and my hotel said it was against the law to hold bags
overnight, only on check-in and check-out days.
I'm wondering with this heighten security would a Pisa stationmaster or
station kiosk/coffee bar take a chance holding a foreign tourist's
luggage?
Thanks again...Regards, Walter
