Default Nassau, Atlantis Resort Snorkeling

I was wondering if anyone knows if you can snorkel at the Atlantis
Resort? If you can, is there anything cool that you can see in the
lagoon? fish? reef? fake things? I plan on teaching my girlfriend how
to snorkel and was hoping the Atlantis lagoon would be a good place.

Also if anyone knows of any places around Nassau where there is good
shore snorkeling please let me know. I've heard of strong rip currants
and was hoping there was someplace that was calm with some reef.

Thanks for any help.

Beach snorkeling is very limited in Nassau. Stay at a cheaper hotel than
the Atlantis & take a boat trip.

The Atlantis beach is right on the Atlantic. Not only high waves
when we were there but teens running up & down on Seadoos.

Teach your girlfriend to snorkel in the hotel pool beforehand to save time
on the boat trip.

That's v. good advice! Atlantis is not really a place for snorkelling -
at any level.

Teach someone to snorkel?

There is a lesson I would love to see.....

Okay, put this tube in your mouth, put your face under water, and
breathe......

You cant get it? Keep practicing......

Oh, and dont forget to kick your feet......

Snorkeling, once you've done it a few times it seems simple enough. But
for those with only the very basic "dogie paddle eyes closed" skills a
little support may be needed.

After all, if you dive when you surface, you have to remember to blow
out to clear the water in your snorkel tube. It's a common sense thing
alright but my first time, I saw others diving and when I came up I
choked on a breath full of water. I would suggest to newbies, stay on
the surface until you've got your breathing rhythm down. Practice
diving in a pool before doing it in open water.

Your best bet is probably to go on a snorkeling trip with Stuarts Cove
