South Africa trip
hi I,m going to JBS in Oct of this year . I,m picking a car up at the
airport driving to Kruger for a couple of days then through Swaziland then
down to Durban . then I shall be driving to Cape T. Is this possible in 22
days allowing myself time to do a bit of sightseeing.I,ve driven in the USA
a few times ,how does it compare to this,.I,d be very grateful if any one
could give me as much advice as possible on this trip inc car hire and game
reserves etc
Many thanks

It seems you have planned about the same trip than we have done in
2000. We also took 3 weeks for this, it can be done without a problem.
I have a travel report on my website (url below).
We plan to go back to SA but then stay near the parks (Kruger,
Hluhluwe...) longer.
Bye Maurice

Hi Michael.
Shouldn't be a problem. Just watch out for the speedtraps!
You've chosen about the best itinerary one could think of, depending
of course where you'll be going to in KwaZulu-Natal when you're in
Durban.
There are a number of game reserves in the northern parts of that
province and the St Lucia wetlands are beautiful.
Enjoy your visit.

Hi Maurice.
I just had a look at your website, the part about your South African
vacation.
Very informative, excellent pictures.
I especially liked your "That was the first time that we came across a
genuine friendly custom officer..." remark!
Seems that friendly Customs officials are an endangered species.
Re the part about Cape Point, many people (including a few tourist
guides) think that Cape Point is the southernmost tip of Africa but it
isn't. That particular honour belongs to Cape Agulhas (also referred
to as L'Agulhus) in the Overberg region.
I hope you'll do a similar addition to your website after your next
visit here.
Regards.

Me again.
Sorry for almost "flooding" this thread!
Michael, I think you should take a look at Maurice' website - see his
reply to your original post for the link.
It's very informative and more-or-less covers the general route you're
thinking of.
Cheers.
