Safety of mailing items to Ghana?

Safety of mailing items to Ghana?
I am involved in the shipping of some fairly valuable items to Ghana.
The last package was worth $175 or so. I use US Post Office and USPS
plane lands in Accra and from there it's in the hands of the Ghana
Postal Service. Can anyone tell me how reliable this postal service is
and what the likelihood is that items with be stolen in either the Post
Office or Customs in Ghana? Thx.
