Mount Meru, Tanzanian Trains
Can anyone offer advice on any of the following:
- recommendations for good, local, best-value tour operators who do
treks up Mount Meru;
- recommendations for mid-value places to stay in Arusha (around
$30-40 pppn);
- train travel to and from Arusha: Tanga/Arusha and Arusha/Dar in
particular; and
- bus travel between these same places.
Any help gratefully received

"Le Jacaranda" or "Mezza Luna" are good choices. Mezza Luna is a bit cheaper
(40 USD pppn), but quiet and clean, and the food is excellent (it's owned by
an italian couple).

I am not informed regarding trains.
Use "Scandinavian" coaches. They're worth their price (which is about 20 USD
from Arusha to Dar), very comfortable and safe. In any case you will find
any kind of bus from any kind of company covering this path (there is for
example the "kilimanjaro express").
