Where's the porridge?
I know my eyesight is getting worse, but on a number of visits to Portuguese supermarkets I couldn't find any porridge (or cottage cheese).
Have I been looking in the wrong place, or wrong supermarkets?

We use Avela for Breakfast during the wintet, cannot really tell the difference between it and Scott's Porridge Oats..

Hazelnut is avelã. Avena is Spanish for oats and that's what'll be seen as well as aveia on the packets here.

A lot of the supermarkets have a separate health / natural foods section as well as a breakfast cereals aisle. The better selection is usually in the former if that's the case.

... and sometimes you need to check the ethnic foods section for products that don't necessarily appeal to the local population as much as to some other nationalities.

Lidl, own Crownfield brand, stocked usually with the breakfast cereals. Packets marked Copos de Avena(es)/Flocos de Aveia. Comes in two flake sizes, Grosso (yellow packet) or Fino - you’ll want Grosso for porridge, Fino more like oatmeal.

This is the brand that my daughters found, as per #8, marked "suaves", but it was OK for porridge.
