Be careful about Broadband Algarve and the Satellite options. Nothing against the company BUT I have heard recently that there have been problems with one of the Italian companies that provides them with the up/down link signal.
Make sure its kosher.

Jon-Bxl,
That's really interesting.
The only comment I would make is that in rural Portugal (or anywhere), any 3g/4g mobile coverage with reasonable speeds is what one looks for. So for internet access one wants to look at who provides the best signal 3g in a given position, irrespective of who they are.

Google "wifry"
If you connect a wifi dongle to a standard router [one with a 12VDC power input, connect direct to your solar battery], and you put the dongle at the sweet spot of a wok, supposedly you can get kilometers of range. For best results, use a similar setup at the receiving end.
Because the wok is stamped out of a mold, and the mold was made on a lathe, it's the correct shape.
The idea is the same as used on the milkwood link, but with savings on the antenna.

I haven't, but I once had a neighbor who did.
It worked when a naked dongle would not, but his distance wasn't that long.
It's cheap, make a test.
