I have a small load of 6m3 to transport from the UK to Portugal. Is anyone able to tell me the most cost effective option?

It depends where your load needs to be picked up, and where it needs to be delivered.
Depot to depot is cheapest, but all the transport companies charge by distance to / from their UK and Algarve warehouses.

So far I have got back a quote from Algarve Removals, which I have to say looks very reasonable.

I put placemarks marking all the UK locations of the various transport firms who do small loads to Portugal on google earth. So now if I input any UK town, I can see which is closest, and how far.
I did this for buying heavy second hand machines on ebay. If a seller is close to the transport, it's likely to be cost effective. If it's 100 miles or more, I don't even bother to ask.
I shipped a 500kg mowing deck.
Anyway, if you tell me which town your load is starting from, I'll tell you who is closest, and likely to offer you the best rate.

My pleasure. I have also done a 30m3 load with another company, if you need pricing.
