That is absolutely fantastic. I usually don't like clicking on links so it took me a while but I'm so glad I viewed that! Was just like me in Faro customs matriculating my car! ROFL.

Does anybody know the email address of the mayor in Tavira?
Would love to forward this one to him.

When I first arrived all "estrangeiros" had to have a "Bilhete Identidade"
Identity Card (system stopped in 1998).
It was just like this ,3 trips, nearly 3 months,Then a very old hand here told us what to do.
When somebody in the system say's - go to so & so get this & then go to so & so etc - Ask them to write it all down on a sheet of there headed paper ,then sign & date it & then stamp it with there office stamp.
The first person I asked to do this went cross eyed.

Hi Blackbeardie, you are from my neck of the woods in the UK! Are you moving to Portugal soon?

And yes, it's like this here. Though I even got myself thrown out of the Lagos Camara by a big burly female security guard with excessive hair growth. Apparently my baby was crying too much and disturbing everyone else...and to think it's supposed to be a child loving country!

Hi SupremeG!
Nice to meet someone here who lived in Berkshire/RBWM.

Sorry to hear about your bad expereince at the Lagos Camara. I guess it will be a shock dealing with Portuguese civil servants and being spoiled by UK efficeincy and helpfulness.

Yes... I am planning to move to Portugal in a couple of years at the outside and will be making plenty of trips to get the feel of the place.

I stayed at PRaia de Luz. Drove down from Lisbon in 2002 and 2003 when I was still able Nice place. I even toyed with the idea of by a villa in a development of six at the time.

Tell me, do you have a graffiti problem there? I was in Lisbon and areas south of the Rio Tagus. Grafitti everywhere! What's that all about?

Best wishes,
BEardie
