Our house is less than 3 years old and luckly only one bedroom gets some mould, something that should be noted with houses here is that there is no vent in the rooms to let the wall cavity breath(as with British houses) Im gonna try putting a vent in to see if it resolves it!

Just got back from PT and all is not lost, apart from the terrace and a bit if damp in a light switch we seem to be OK. No mould on bedding- HURRAY! I love Portugal but if the weather is miserable its as bad as being in the UK. Give me sunshine!

I agree, mould on the walls is a real buggar but I was given a good tip last year. Fill a spray bottle with neat Lixivia (bleach) and spray the affected area. Don't bother to wash it off, let it dry and air the room. It works a treat, after a couple of hours however black it was the stain has gone. However, don't forget to wear goggles, Marigolds and a long sleeved shirt.
So before you buy a house in Portugal get a Nassa suit !!!:D:D |
