My mum just lost about 400 euros worth of clothes the other day when she opened up a wardrobe and found every single garment COVERED in mould :frown: There are infact some downsides to living here! ;)

This morning I've found my daughter's soft toys are all covered in mould too and there's a sofa in that room covered in mould too which is practically brand new! It's spreading!

Anti-humidity paint should help

Re: Recent rain

the house was painted badly just before we moved in, just a coat of white everywhere outside to make it look nice for us but the majority of it has come off with the rain and obviously no sealer or special paint used :sneaky:

Very few places in Portugal are built to a standard that if NOT lived in full time will encounter mould of some sort even if you have a dehumidifier going whilst you are not there. I'm not sure what the answer would be. However, one tip I can give you to not to close wardrobe doors or cupboards, allow the air to circulate and if at all possible, ask someone to come in and open the windows for a few hours if you are not going to live there full time. But, if living there full time will not always stop the mould (black death) getting to some parts of the house/apartment.
One of the drawbacks of owing a house in Portugal/Spain/southern France.
