Re: portuguese recipes
There's a recipe for Portuguese custard tarts in Delia's new "How to Cheat" book. I've not tried it myself, but if you're interested I'll send you the recipe.
Sounds a great idea by the way.

If you go to Albufeira the national dish seems to be 'all day english breakfast' I can give you the receipe for that if you want to impress the French?

Re: portuguese recipes
thank you for your suggestions but will need more info on traditional dishes because the full english breakfast would not go down to well at eight o'clock at night and im fed up with eating bacon, more of a heart man myself, with a nice drop of wine.

sounds good, we have had a trial with custard tarts, very good, but no good for the waistline.
will have to have a trial with rice pudding now, (what a shame)

I made this recipe last week and thought the use of creme fraiche spoilt the taste. Next time I will use extra thick double cream. I also used sweet shortcrust pastry and made them in a muffin tin giving nice deeper custard tarts.

Would be interested to find out how the rice pudd. turns out. It is sometime difficult to get fresh cream here however. We had been looking to see which rice should be used - now we will give it a try. Enjoy
