Default Portuguese citizenship from co habiting

Hello all

I am a UK citizen and have been living with my partner a Portuguese citizen in London for 7 years now.

We are engaged and have 2 children together and own an apartment in London.

We are relocating to Portugal and due to the visa situation being very difficult I have looked into citizenship by marriage which suggests that if you have been married or co habiting for 3 years you can apply for citizenship as a foreign national

Has anyone else got experience of this?

it seems quite straightforward compared to the visa.

You can acquire Portuguese citizenship through marriage after three years of marriage to a Portuguese citizen, or three years of cohabitation. There is no requirement for any prior period of residence in Portugal, although the applicant must provide documents proving an effective connection to the Portuguese community.”

many thanks

Byron
