Motherboard malfunction, being sent off to HP repair somewhere could be as long as TWO FULL WEEKS without Laptop, feeling nauseous. Grabbed MePats' HP ( he gets all my old ones) but WTF? The battery just broke (is that a right term?) Ordered one from Amazon UK be here Friday... (BTW only 12.99 GBP + 5.99 shipping versus 61.00 Euros here) MAYbe THE GODS want me to step away from computers and, gulp, talk a walk or visit face-to-face with folks or something like that? ....hmmmmmmmmmm

Hmmm!

"Motherboard malfunction"....on an HP! Can happen but I wonder...

Is your property old with antediluvian PT 1st generation electricity installations??

Did you keep the machine in a cool well-aired environment?

Yes yes yes and I DID have an Uber protective lead BUT stuck it on the TV and printer and totally forgot to buy another one for the laptop station, I'm sure there would be surge protection required here in the agricultural campsite where we are for the summer. STUPID STUPID ME. Like I don't know this stuff? AND MePat is a certified industrial electrician. Thoughtless and costly mistake.
Never let machine get hot BUT it can be a bit dusty at times and we've that red oily soil here; great for melons but not for the keyboard....
