When back in pt in Jan need to register my uk driving licence with IMTT but where is the nearest office I can do this at

Looks to me like it's probably Leiria for you, unless anybody else knows any different.

This link gives you the regional and district offices - there might be an office or a counter in a Loja do Cidadão closer by but it wouldn't necessarily provide the service you're looking for.

Probably.

There is a Espaço Cidadão in Caldas with (according to the services provided page) an IMT facility but it looks like a skeleton service. There's also an office at Santarém, which is a little closer to you than Leiria but again not completely sure they provide that service you're looking for and you're not in their administrative district - I never know whether that makes a difference always but I've certainly been redirected on one occasion to my district office from an office in another, having assumed it would be a service open to all as it was a central govt thing (though not driving related that time).

Given the waiting times in these places sometimes and the possibility of being turned away (or possibly met with blank looks ), going straight to Leiria rather than possibly round the houses might be the quickest and safest option in the end even though it's a bit of a journey for you.

I eventually got a reply from the contact us imtt link on their site and they confirmed Leiria it is .

Yes now only Leiria , but please note :- The service has speeded up no end ,since they banned the "Agents" who would arrive with literally a box full off request !
