nato maneuvers
I reported automatic weapon fire near my place to GNR yesterday; they came over to check, and determined that it was nato soldiers firing blanks.
I didn't believe them at first, but later a military vehicle came out of the campo.
And there was that huge military helicopter hovering there yesterday.
I noticed that for the last week, the weather radar for southern Portugal hasn't been working.
Does anyone know if they turned it off for the NATO exercises?

We've had a couple of military helicopters going over our house this week, so may be so.

Re: nato maneuvers
We had 5 fighters in a triangle pattern overfly us.
The "senhora da casa" suggested they couldn't be Portuguese as a) All five were flying and b) If they had been they'd be nose to tail and trying to overtake each other
We have had overflights everyday for a week, but usually only ones or twos.
It makes a change from the pathetic 4x4 drivers who seem to think driving too fast down an unmettled road in convoy is a ne form of motorsport

Re: nato maneuvers
I'm so glad this was a topic otherwise I would definitely thought we had an alien invasion on the night of 7th May. We watched in awe as lines of stars moved across the dark night sky. First 10, all in a straight line until they disappeared, then 40ish on the same trajectory then a little later over 50 came from a different direction still in a perfect straight line and all perfectly silent....

Re: nato maneuvers
We have tremendous roaring from the fighter planes; sometimes even when they're so high up, they can barely be spotted in a clear sky.
Much louder than civilian aircraft.
I wonder what your silent flying objects were?

Re: nato maneuvers
I was about to reply to liveaboard that they must have been aliens after all when you posted that video Richard so I can now prove we haven't lost our marbles - yet. When we saw them they were much higher up and surrounded by real stars so even more freaky. We tried to capture it on mobile phone video but it didn't work. Thanks so much for posting it.

Those Starlink trains are amazing to watch. You can find out when they're passing on this website (phone app also available).
Change the location to where you are, the nearest city to you or your actual GPS location.

Thanks for that Bomber Harris, will keep an eye out to see it again but I suspect next time it won't be so thrilling
