Medical required for a Portuguese driving licence
Hello, wonder if anyone can help. I've been told by IMT that I'll need a medical certificate in order to obtain my Portuguese driving licence. Has anyone had any experience of obtaining a medical in Portugal? I've registered with a local healthcentre but so far I've not received any documentation from them confirming that I'm actually registered with them. Would it be easier getting this done in the UK next time I'm back?
Many thanks for any help with this,
Jules

You will need to be registered on the health system as the doctor inputs the information on the imt database. You should have received a utente number when you registered...
A medical from the uk is no good to you.

Re: Medical required for a Portuguese driving licence
so still the unanswered goes on.......if you scan a copy of a UK licence and submit all the stuff to them, and you still have a plastic UK dl, can you continue to drive in the UK?
And even when and if IMT send a scrap of paper or email something that says you can only drive in Portugal and ask for you actual UK licence can you still drive in the UK??
If not why not?
I cannot see why this can be allowed.................... to remove ones freedom for driving, not having been disqualified for any reason other than Portuguese taking so long to lisssue a licence.
Not interested in EU rules, only UK laws apply.

Re: Medical required for a Portuguese driving licence
Edit - Having written that they could take a gamble on submitting the application for exchange right away and hope that with the avalanche of UK licences being submitted IMT don't pick up on their date of residency.
