Anyone have any idea where you can get marzipan as unable to find it in any supermarket here in East algarve Tavira.

It's on the road between Estoi and Santa Barbara de Nexe. They have an advert in the latest East Algarve magazine with a wee map showing where they are if that helps....

'Pasta' or 'Massa' de Amêndoa is a common ingredient in Portuguese sweets and cakes and a regional speciality throughout the Algarve , folks seem to make their own here as Almonds are easy and cheap to source. I am not a chef but almonds, sugar and egg blitzed together in a food processor for a few seconds should be easier and quicker than driving around the countryside.

They have Massa de Amêndoa in Continente in Tavira but it looks kinda artificial....we have marzipan but had to go to Apolonia in Almancil for it....
