I thought it might be fun to have a thread about our likes and dislikes of living in Portugal. I will give my likes and dislikes.
Likes. Living among a laid back people in a warm dry climate.(usually warm and dry)

Obviously these aren't all the advantages of living here, but overall, the pros DEFINITELY outweigh the cons!!
- Weather (Most of the year
) - Laidback attitude to life
- Night-life
- Young female tourists

Dislikes -
- Awful roads
- Lack of good english goods
- Inability to cope with rain
- Unnecessary red tape for everything

LIKES: Weather/climate in general, wine, lack of yob-culture, lack of gangs of drunken youths smashing bus stops, shop windows etc, lower crime rate, people (young and old) much more aware of healthy eating and living, stronger family ties, no worshipping of latest teen "celebrity," no Noel Edmunds, no Chris Moyles, no Davina Macall, no over-the-top political correctness, - and none of those awful dirty 1970's carptes - just beautiful polished wood or ceramic tiles.
DISLIKES: usual stuff - lack of professionalism in some quarters, uneccessary beauracracy, apalling driving.
At the moment, my likes outweigh the dislikes - so I put up with or get around the dislikes as best I can. But its a small price to pay for all the reasons I left the UK. I can still watch quality programming such as Mastermind, Coast, the David Attenborough series, Blackadder and even Last of The Summer Wine on the BBC's Entertainment Channel. And if I'm really missing Blighty, The Two Ronnies, Bagpuss, Clangers etc are all available on DVD or YouTube. So....that just leaves the binge drinkers, hooligans and other louts, - whom I don't miss one single bit.
OK, I needed to get a fair amount off my chest. Probably because Villa got thumped 6-0 last weekend!!
