My mother used to squeeze half a lemon into hot water with a teaspoon of honey, a tot of whisky and a dispersible aspirin. It tastes at least as vile as a lemsip. ;)

No whisky. Lemsip is OKish. When I lived in Spain, they had a product similar.

Did you get over your cold and did your eyes improve?

Re: Lemsip

Thank you, yes, getting there with the cold. Still coughing but yes, the spots have not appeared in the last day or 2.

Re: Lemsip

Bronchostop is what I used when the coughing was really bad. It did help, so if your other half ends up coughing loads, it's worth getting.

Italians drink warm milk with Grappa in it. The grappa is enough to kill off any bug or germ. The milk is probably just to wash it down or make it more child-friendly. Italians are hypochondriacs anyway and die if they are not wearing a scarf, walk barefoot or go out in the air so I never really listened to them.

A pillow over the face worked for me.

I just move to another bedroom, rather than smothering him - but love your advice Lorna.

Hot toddy, cheapo rubbish whiskey from Aldi, local honey, brown sugar and you forget all about the coughing and sneezing.

Or maybe two or three might help.

I'll try that. What do I give to him?

Bad advice!!!! I just tried it and it made him cough more. I think I'll just shove in the bedroom and close the door, then turn my radio up very loud.
