Latin and Ballroom Dancing
Hi Everyone, my Dad is in his 70's and loves golf and dancing.
He wants to move to Portugal but he is worried there is no ballroom dancing clubs, (he dances 3 times a week in the UK)
Does anyone know of any expat or local dancing groups/clubs where he can join and enjoy his dancing in and around Vilamoura?
Many thanks everyone
Mark

Re: Latin and Ballroom Dancing
There are lots of places that offer a weekly 'Baila' through the year and some where they only do so in Summer as the venue is largely 'outdoor'. The Portuguese love them and they seem to be very low cost, the last one I witnessed had an almost negligible entrance price that included a free drink (beer or coffee).
The place was packed and a very loud accordionist had everyone moving about. Not exactly ballroom dancing to a 'strictly level' but certainly a social event and a chance to meet a lot of people.
I drive past one in Esteval (Almancil) daily but I know one exists in Quarteira and maybe even closer to Vilamoura. Search terms would be baila or danceteria (basically a mature version of a disco for people of sensible age).
Good fun, great exercise, very sociable and very Portuguese

They are also held frequently in the Carvoeiro social club and in Estombar in the summer.
