Default Fly screens

Hi all,
We are looking for fly screens for our apartment in Tavira. Thankful for suggestions to anyone who can give us a quote.

You could always make them yourself - quite easy, bit of wood, some nails and mesh.

Thanks very much. I still wouldn't mind to know about someone who could give me a quote, though.

You could try MSMP estores, they're good but not cheap. On the other hand, our neighbours have screens from one of the advertisers in the local English papers and they say ours are far superior. You can find them on the market side of the new(ish) road bridge in Tavira just in front of the fishermen's huts.

It's not that easy; you have to make good joins at the corners and the whole thing has to be weather resistant. I didn't use any nails or screws in the joinery on mine because the movement of the wood through the year would soon work them loose. I used some leftover teak I had, but most wood doesn't survive long in rain and sun. If you have a covered balcony in front of the door it's not as difficult.

The Portuguese seem to use curtains of fluffy ropes [cat tails I think they're called], kind of ghastly but they don't bang every time the dog goes out.

Most window fitting companies do properly made ones.

Hi, in 2005 we got ours fitted by Orlando A. Martins Guerra tel 968036976. They are based on the EN270 between Santa Catarina and Sao Bras. They cover Tavira.
We had 4 sliding screens for the patio doors, one top to bottom cartridge type for the kitchen door and a small fixed screen for the bathroom window.
The total price was around €280 fitted. They come to your property, measure and then call you when they are ready to be fitted (about 2 weeks). They then come and fit them.
Nine years on and they are still as good as new.

That sounds like good quality. I'm looking for something to block the light on a small window

Thanks all for the tips.
Got a couple of quotes and went with a local guy (MSMP estores). Very professional.
