Exchange driving license
We need to change our french driving license for a portuguese one.
When we arrived 2 years ago, our driving licenses were registered in Faro (obligatory).
We thought we had found an office in Portimao to do this for us, but it is quite difficult to make an appointment. After 3 attempts I gave up.
Does anyone have good experience with an expert to change the drving license in the Portimao area? Will this prevent you from going yourself to Faro?
Thanks a lot !

You’ll need to go to Faro in person as they need to take your photograph there. Plenty of threads on the documents you need. IMT there is not so busy now as it was. Just be aware that they’ll take your French license off you when you apply.

No need to book an appointment at IMT & you'll need your old licence + residencia etc + a letter from a GP who has access to your NHS records that stats there is no medical reason to prevent you driving & listing the categories you've passed a test for.................. and you'll need to do an additional psych test if you have HGV or PSV categories & you'll lose categories you haven't actually passed a test on such as some trailers etc.
If you have full motorcycle licence you need to check that's listed on the letter from the Dr & also on the temporary licence as they're fond of 'forgetting' to include it.

Excaclly, and to make things quicker and smoother take a photocopy of everything, including both sides of your driving license.

We use GB InPort owned and operated by Gracy Biss, Ricardo and Liliana. Their offices are at Rua do Viveiro, Lote 4. 3D in Lagoa located next to the Finanças.

We have used the Biss's for over 12 years, residencias, driving licences (age over 70) etc. Friends for matriculating cars from UK and Spain. Highly recommend them.
