Default Electric Bills ?

Hi All:

I'm going to be charged for electric in a rental I took.
I looked around pt websites but I was unable to find how the charges are figured out ?

Charge by KWH, I assume ... any idea what that is and what the upfront charges are per month in Lagos area ?

Websites to check ?
I looked on the www.edp.pt ... site .. couldn't find it ?

Thanks,

Even when you get the bill, you probably won't be able to figure it out; they add weird things, then subtract other things. It's all very mysterious.

Anyway, you have a standing monthly charge that's based on the size of your service [the main fuse, your maximum load], and after that you pay for use by the kwh, around E0.15

Yep, that site is useless. They like to confuse us (just wait until you try to decipher one of their bills!), the info you want is here:

Thanks Liveaboard and Dishin'upDigital

Your posts are the information I was looking for.

It would seem unless I know what the owner has chosen for their contracted kVA option, I won't have a clue about what the daily charges are or the charge for kwh used ..

But the charts on the website noted by Dishin'upDigital might be able to be used to back into it.

The subtractions might be the discounts noted on that website... just a guess.

I assume that the the amount of power contracted for a small apartment is much less than what most here are usually using for a house.

As always, thanks for the help,

LL

Thanks. This looks like the business. The pricing is very clear.

Looking at the bi-horario option with EDP. Can you choose your own off-peak hours or are you stuck with the ones shown on the tariff? Thanks

Stuck with the hours they stipulate. Otherwise it'd be pretty pointless for them.

Thanks and there was me thinking there was a bargain to be had! Looks like swings and roundabouts. Not sure we've got the discipline to manage ourselves efficiently, put in timers etc and set everything up overnight and Sundays, the standing daytime costs might outweigh the night savings. I'd be interested if anyone has achieved any decent savings by going for the dual tariff. J

There are 2 or 3 options for the cheaper time periods; one is different during the week and weekends, another is the same every day.
It's always 40 hours [I think] per week altogether.

Thank you.

https://energia.edp.pt/particulares/...rios-2014.aspx but remember that with the (allegedly) liberalised market there are other suppliers who (allegedly) offer different prices.

Thanks very much Richard! I just couldn´t find it.. . Yes, liberalised market. The technician who plugged me in told me that all the other companies have to buy their electricity from EDP. Anyway the UK market has fake market liberalisation so I´m not fussed as long as the Portuguese don´t prevent me generating my own - like they have done is Spain.. via Special decree. Gangsters and banskters the lot of them.. .
