Hi there So sorry but I'm hijacking you're thread a wee bit. We've not space for a hunting dog ourselves, sorry.
We are coming to Travira in 2 weeks time(13-15 Jan/2015) via car w/caravan from our farm-home near Lyon. We intend to stay until May-June. We've a plan to buy a small 2+bed village-house (not an apartment)
and are looking for English speaking folks to have a chin-wag with about living in Travira and other things before we buy anything. We'd prefer to buy direct versus using an Estate Agent.
We are a retired couple early 60s; 'Pat' from Limerick, Ireland, myself 'Marlow' from Oregon & Bavaria and Betsy our Rhodesian Ridgeback. Between us we've 7 grown children + 6 grandchildren. Pat is a retired urban firefighter and I a retired entrepreneur. We LOVE rugby, wild-camping, hiking, gardening, cooking-eating, reading, art, fishing, golf, dark red wine, conversation, have a strong sense of humor and just sittin' doin' nuttin'....We've Whats App on our smart phones & for emails too while we are travelling. Love to hear from anyone in the eastern Algarve.

If you're not going to use an estate agent, I suggest you make very sure you use a very good lawyer because it's not uncommon for local sellers to misrepresent what you're buying in a variety of ways.

we are working with in Tavira and will naturally have our legal and accountancy teams jump into action when the right time comes just looking to cover all potential opportunities that may be out there. Adeus

Only one estate agent ? They will want sell you what is on their books.better to talk to at least a couple more. There is no central index of properties for sale and many agents will not deal with another as they do not want to split the commission.
