Hello

Please we are from Canada and will be getting our residency after we arrive. I have seen on this forum that sometimes a criminal check is required and again some people have been able to go to the Judiciary (spelling sorry) and get one there.

Would you advise we get one here in Canada or wait until we get there and see if they ask for one?? My inclination is to get one here.....

You'll probably never need it but as it'll probably be easy to get why not do it just in case....... but better to get it as close to your leave date as possible because if you do need it, it'll probably only be valid for 6 months or so.

OP, why not get the criminal check done in Canada, then have the Portuguese consulate there translate it, together with their stamp of certification?
