Re: Cost of Portuguese Lessons
By the way 300 Euros would buy me at least 150 bottles of "decent discounted'"red wine!

Re: Cost of Portuguese Lessons
Don't worry, you are not on your own - we are doing our bit up in Central PT but had planned to visit some Adegas this last year doing the touristy/research bit, but alas with the Peste we are restricted to supermarket sampling. However the Port is going down nicely too and at last the weather has cheered up at last up here - putting away the wellies and considering the chilled-white-Port next. Reading Portuguese wine labels (and other labels too, of course) is good for some extra understanding of the words but it is still the pronunciation and "missed out" bits of words that floors us trying to understand in the few local contacts we have while isolating ... Roll on the vaccinations.

Think the top spot is due to all the Brits on holiday taking advantage of the cheap vinho.

Re: Cost of Portuguese Lessons
hi
unfortunately due to the current and upcoming economic crisis caused by the "c-thing" a lot of professionals (tour guides, PTs, real estaters, bartenders, chefs, singers, actors, PRs, etc.) are/will be out of a job, nevertheless they still need to make a buck to eat and pay bills, so having 1-to-1 private Portuguese lessons from a native Portuguese [best method] (via Zoom or any other program) @ € 10 per 45 minute lesson would be deemed a fair fee, in my opinion
also, even with distancing, try to mingle with local Portuguese as much as you can, speaking and learning the language; also reading everything in Portuguese, and keep the radio/TV in Portuguese, to immerse yourself in the language
regards

If you can find a class using the Suggestopedia method (sometimes called deSuggestopedia) I can highly recommend it as a means to learning a new language.
