With the door on the correct side ? (Same side as the driver of a LHD Car) If not then you can't without major alterations.

The door is on the righthand side but this is a caravan not a motor home does this make a differance?

Hi I read this on another site and it seems the door info is correct .. Bizzar!!

We wanted to Import a Caravan here and I asked the British Consulate in Portimao to be referred to the British Consulate in Lisbon about doing it they sent me all the info they had, it turned out that a caravan is classed as a trailer and the door being on the wrong side meant we could not bring it over here for more than 180 days as we would not be able to matriculate it.
This was a costly experience as we had purchased a New Caravan to bring over here before we found out the full facts and ended up selling it at a great loss. I suggest you get in touch with www.fco.gov.uk/en/abou...ate-lisbon

That info should read same side as the PASSENGER of a LHD car as the logic is that you should be able to exit the caravan onto the pavement and of course not into the middle of the road ! So the door needs to be the opposite side of the caravan by comparison with the UK

I was told that the door thing only applies to motor caravans, and not trailers.
You need a big thick stack of papers though, which usually do not accompany UK trailers since the UK does not require them.
I can't remember which ones. Ownership and type approval mainly but there's another I think.

I got one too; mine will stay home.

Logic would suggest the document you mention is the certificate of conformity which is what they need for motor vehicles.

In the case of motor vehicles if no CoC is available for reasons such as the vehicle pre-dates CoCs then they usually accept a copy of the sales brochure that shows the original tech spec. - And I'd assume that would probably also apply to caravans.

I'd suggest the O/P contact one of the agents that specialise in matriculation & ask what is/isn't possible.
